Builders Clubs are “student-led” community service organizations in Jr. High Schools sponsored local Kiwanis Clubs. Builders Clubs provide students with opportunities to
develop leadership, improve self-esteem, increase civic engagement and learn life skills through service to the community. As students maneuver this “in-between-stage” of life, Builders Clubs empower them to be themselves, work together with friends, and implement plans through action. Through Builders Clubs, students become leaders at school, in their community and in the world. Club members make an impact selecting projects that meet their communities’ needs.
The Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River sponsors a Builders Club at Mohave Valley Junior High School (MVJH). The club is dedicated to contributing to the betterment of the community and in developing citizenship in their members.
The club performs hours of community service throughout the community, participating in service activities such as:
- School and community beautification projects
- Funding and construction of playground improvements
- Cornfest
- Recycling programs
- Canstruction
The Builders Club is led dedicated Advisors that act as mentors to the young people in the Club. The MVJH Club Advisor is Jessica Tary. The Faculty Advisor is Mr. Aaron Marquez. If you would like more information on how to become involved or get your Jr. High student involved with Builders Club you can email the Club advisor.
